2.3.1Due in part to the Division of Behavioral Health’s control over Alaska’s Medicaid behavioral health expenditures, the Department has successfully leveraged federal matching funds to increase overall funds for services and coordinate behavioral health financing more efficiently.
7.3.1The results of the performance review have not indicated that alternative programmatic elements should be targeted for further budget reductions. However, the review has yielded recommendations suggesting that further cost savings can be achieved in the form of revenue enhancement opportunities that utilize additional local and federal funding sources. The review has also identified potential cost efficiencies to be gained through reforming grant and contract administration and improving Medicaid program integrity functions.
